I'm a new member, hoping to go to the Dane at weekend, hopefully trotting for silvers/ Chub. Will I get in pegs with 17ft rod, and what are our stretches like. Don't want pegs, just a general guide. Cheers
Agreed fishing the Winsford Anglers stretch if the Weaver near the Lymm stretch and its night and day Winsford well maintained accessible pegs vs Lymm build your own bring a jcb. This is disappointing as Lymm is such a cracking club in other ways, just needs to put in the work in a few areas (not just Carp waters) I cant be alone in liking Carp fishing, Silvers, oredators, Cats and also Rivers and expecting good conditions on all waters?
Attempted to fish the dane several times over the past 5/6 years, totally overgrown and inaccessible in most areas, nobody fishes it anymore, full of fish in the glides and on the bends with depth and features, forget a 17 foot rod, 13 is to big given the growth, went on this time last year, never again, Weavers the same, absolutely stuffed with fish, several miles of bank, no pegs, you have to cut your own peg out, the banking is several metres deep of dense growth, another impossible ask, other clubs have put pegs in, without the petrol strimmers the club owns its an impossible task, offered to get involved and do the work a few years back on this forum, no response!
We stopped doing work parties this year because we were asked to go on Wrinehill, we don't fish for carp or cats, I pointed this out in email exchanges that the weaver as an example has no pegs, and is definitely a priority over the carp and cat waters, nothing has happened, was told the club have to apply "months in advance" to knock out pegs, to my knowledge this is the third year that no working parties of significance have been arranged for the weaver, Nick strimmed a few pegs a couple of years ago, if a 30 plus carp came out of the stretches it would be developed, just my view of the facts, brilliant natural fishing lost to the sport. Why are we paying rent for no access? Why bother having these waters on the card, think were that money could be spent 🤔
Thanks for that Clive, I've always been a keen river angler, however this is the trend since the arrival of commercials and the increase in popularity of Carp fishing.
