As a precautionary measure the EA has recommended that we close the waters whilst some fish checks are carried out.

This is with regards to a couple of fish being caught at the Middlewich Anglers end of the lake that had some lesions on their bodies.

Lesions can occur as a result of physical damage and it is possible that these are infections triggered by recent spawning activity. The fact that the fish were caught with rod and line demonstrates that they are still feeding, which is a positive sign.

We have decided to follow the advice of the experts and close Sparrow and Tetton - we will keep the membership updated with any outcome from the checks.
