Carp are currently spawning on catchpenny, I'm guessing they have just started, with the exceptionally hot weather we've got over the next few days if your going to fish for them, don't cast directly at them, do have your matt ready, also your camera, scales and tub of water to cool the fish down and get it back into the water as quick as possible, the fish are already stressed and vulnerable at this point, do not drag the fish acrosss the gravel in your net and then leave the fish on its side in 3 inches of water for 10 minutes whilst you sort your things out like I've just witnessed.

To be fair I agree, I packed up early as the fish are spawning so close to the rod tips I kept getting violent liners that resembled screaming runs, there is plenty of other waters, get it closed for the week or two
Surely no one should be fishing when any fish are spawning on any lake. Can cause unnecessary stress to them leading to potential health issues down the line.
Just close the lake leave them to it for a week.
