Not been caught in a while I hooked something big in there on a trip that ran me around like it didn’t even know it was hooked so potentially still in there as I never even seen what I hooked

Yep, also hooked something big last year. Decent cat gear, doubled the 4.5lb tc rod over, couldn't stop it. Even felt unstable on my feet. Hook pulled when I tried to stop it swimming into the roped area. Later, got a 32.5lb cat from the same spot. That hardly bent the rod at all.

Thanks John, I spoke to you about the cats last week. I guessed my mates cat was around 56 or 58. It was actually close to 60. Photo in this thread. What are your thoughts on his cat not being the grey?

Looks more like the one I recently had than what my mate had . Any idea what month you caught it?

Thanks. I've just checked and my mates nearly 60 was caught 15th August last year. You can see scaring marks on my mates fish. Could these have healed in a month? And for it to drop nearly 5lb. I'd like to say they are different fish.
