Forgive me Members and Committee but I have recently experienced an apparent anomaly with acces to Forum(s) [there appears to be 2] and apparent lack of advice/advertisement that 'Keys' are no longer needed for locked gates, which now appear to be combination coded locks? I turned up at Ismore Coppice Atcham for an evening session on the Severn only to be confronted with 'Combi Locks' NOT Key Access - I wasn't aware of any change 😟. Where did I miss the instruction/advice/advertisement of changes to the above???
Speaking to another member on the bank he informed me there was an App too - when did that happen and again not advertised?
Furthermore why are there 2 Forums, which have appeared for 2025 (I have 2 separate log-ins too??) and I wasn't aware of the 2nd Forum until I phoned a friend to see if he knew of the gate code - he found it on this 'new' Forum!
Surely I'm not the only member that has failed to see this, especially those not on the this Forum or the one that appeared back in January - the one I had to re-register for to renew my membership (this is why I have 2 log-ins as my 'old' log-in seems to grant me access to this new Forum, whereas my 'new log-in' appears to direct me to a rarely used Forum (Iwas beginning to think members weren't bothered with that Forum I was accessing?) My log-in password I used to re-register doesn't grant me access to the 'new Forum' either and only by using my old log-in password, by chance, did I get on this Forum 🤷♂️.
Obviously now I have the gate codes but I had driven over 60 miles to fish the Severn and was thinking I had wasted my journey when greeted with no key access - this key is useless now! I don't suppose we get a £5 refund either?
I trust these issues can be rectified and notifications sent to members (via email? you have mine) so as to inform ALL members of the codes/member sites (forums) and any other important information as to any changes, restrictions, access, news or other pertinent issues?
Here's hoping 🤞
Nick
Hi Nick, I hope you are well and thanks for your post.
You are correct, the best way of informing the membership of changes is probably via Email. Unfortunately, since the changeover of the new site there are still some issues to be sorted with regards to the email system which are beyond the current committees control (please don't shoot the messenger here). We are aware that we cannot communicate as efficiently as we would like, so apologies for that.
That being said, we had informed the membership of the changes via Facebook and the Wix app - the ways in which we can currently communicate. I do apologise for your wasted journey but we would always encourage people to check the website prior to fishing and you will have signed up to the new site prior to renewing.
On a positive note, changes are afoot, and shortly there will be an easy way for us to communicate to all and for members to the find the information they require. We will notify all in due course on this.
Apologies Again
Thanks
Tim
