Which pool would you all recommend for bites this time of year for decent (over 10lb) carp? Been fishing Serpentine and its been hard going with only 2 fish in 10 sessions so far. Was looking at Micklewrights and Catchpenny as options, any other suggestions or thoughts on these two waters?
Cheers
Would recommend Micklewright but it's a bit slow at the moment. Usually find it picks up after the fish have spawned. Good number of doubles in there with odd fish over 20lb.
By the way (general question to all) what is the biggest out of there? My best is 21lb 8oz and I have lost a bigger fish at the net
I fish Hadley quite a lot as it's my closest stillwater. It's jam packed with commons and ive had a handful over 10lb. Not a water you want to take massive amounts of gear. Ideal water if you just want a day of catching on a quiver. Ive not come away from there with less than 5 fish in a session.
Catchpenny isn't the easiest water to learn on obviously you will eventually work it out if you stick with it. If you think things are slow on your chosen venue change your approach and adapt your fishing. Good luck
SERPs isn’t as easy water as what people think them fish feel the pressure due to the size of the venue I had 3 in a day session last month but that was with chopping and changing hookbaits I tend to shy away from the norm on there. Micklewhites would be my port of call for a few runs mate
They all over different styles of fishing
Shakerley is a public lake
The vale is under construction but has a lot of decent fish but is not easy
Sparrow and Tetton are mixed fisheries with some nice carp
Top pool is a cat and carp water I believe
Spend some time getting about and give them a try and you will find one you click with
Martin the head bailiff is on there now and had 2
Serps is an easy water
Micklewrights is the one
Catchpenny is not easy
